HEADACHE.
TREATMENT OF HEADACHE;
The antipyretic analgesics are considerably used in simple toxic headache.
Headache is some times relieved by amphetamine, as it appears to increase spinal fluid pressure
Concomitantly with the increase in systemic blood pressure it causes.
This type of headache is usually due to the escape of spinal fluid into the extradural space
through the puncture hole with resultant intrathecal pressure changes and traction on the pain-sensitive durra.
These headaches are often relieved by very slow, careful injection intrathecally of 10 to20ml.
of glucose-saline.
The headache that occur during convalescence from heat stroke is often relieved by magnesium
Sulfate enemas as a depleting measure, the menopausal headache by estrogens and the hypertension
headache by the blood pressure- reducing group of agents.
