SEVERE PAIN
THERE ARE TOO MANY SIDES OF SEVERE PAIN:
Pain may be due to a multitude of organic or psychic disturbances, and is always the symptoms which most often cause a patient to start seeking for one form of medical remedy or the other.
Pain may be felt at the site of the causative lesion or it may occur in a different region, and this may be referred to as; “referred pain”
Pain serves to call the individual’s attention to a diseased state which otherwise might remain concealed.
The location, the frequency, the nature, the radiation and other noticeable characteristics of the pain are very useful in trying to reach a diagnosis, though are not taking as conclusive as a thorough history and physical examination are required.
SEVERE PAIN MANIFESTATIONS:
Local lesions usually cause localized pains.
- Systemic diseases tend to produce a diffuse discomfort.
Severity of pain may very greatly, depending on the type and extent of the lesion and on the sensitivity of the individual.
A good and committed physician must never be content with the control of pain without also determining and treating the cause of the pain.
